About BGM
Yes, I'm Bernard G Mills. I am a photographer who has been working with the medium since the 1960s and am now pursuing a path as an artist/photographer and more recently, a painter. In the past I have been a tutor of film animation, a graphic designer and a full-time lecturer in Art and Design in the Further Education sector.
Skilled in the use of small, medium and large format photography and the digital workflow, I am able to produce high quality imagery that incorporates a strong sense of structural design. Much of my work involves a sustained archival element, be it the photographic recording of collected objects, the abstract qualities of the upward view or the durational documentation of a series of performances.
My personal work operates alongside the work that I produce for others; work such as documentation of artwork, installations, exhibitions, performances, events, interiors and exteriors. I have a studio in Phoenix Art Space, Brighton.
Since 2011, I have been working on a major, ongoing painting work entitled Morning Tunes which is being subdivided into subsections of forty-five individual paintings.
